Atopic dermatitis is often associated with allergic rhinitis and asthma, forming the
well-known "atopic triad." The itchy, scaly rashes typically occur in flexural areas
like the neck, elbows, and knees, and are often accompanied by dry skin, increased
palm lines, and hyperpigmentation. Traditional treatment varies depending on the
severity and includes moisturizers, topical anti-inflammatory agents, oral
antipruritic medications, phototherapy, and oral immunomodulators. In recent years,
newer treatment options such as biologics and small molecule oral immunomodulators
(JAK inhibitors) have also proven effective in relieving patients’ discomfort.
