With advances in genomic technology, more preconception and prenatal genetic testing have become available. Genomic sequencing has emerged as a powerful diagnostic tool in prenatal diagnoses of fetuses with structural anomalies, and in carrier screening of pregnant women and parents-to-be. Selecting the appropriate genetic tests and accurate interpretation and counseling of the results are vital to ensuring the best possible care for patients. As primatologists, we wish to help the family to assess and manage their pregnancies to ensure the best outcomes.
