A pain physician treats pain conditions such as acute and chronic pain, cancer pain,
and neuralgia (including herpetic neuralgia, trigeminal neuralgia, diabetic
polyneuropathy and peripheral neuropathy). A pain doctor who has a background in
anesthesiology would be more familiar with techniques in regional anesthesia and
pain management, combining with image-guided pain interventions. The goal is to
improve the patient’s quality of life by relieving pain.
