The incidence of colorectal cancer has been increasing year by year. Due to the lack
of obvious early symptoms, about 20% of patients are diagnosed with intestinal
obstruction or distant metastasis. This also increases the difficulty of surgical
resection. In recent years, the treatment of colorectal cancer has moved towards a
multidisciplinary treatment team (MDT) approach. For challenging cases with distant
metastases, a collaborative effort is made among colorectal surgeons, oncologists,
radiation oncologists, radiologists, general surgeons, as well as experts from
various fields such as nutritionists, psychologists, and care
coordinators. Through this collaboration, treatment plans are collectively
formulated, not only enhancing the effectiveness of treatment but also boosting the
patients' confidence in facing their disease treatment.
