* Reminder from Dr. Yen:

Fever remains the most common concern prompting parents to present their child to hospital. It can be caused by a few things, including: overdressing, common colds (upper respiratory tract infections), influenza, enterovirus infection, otitis media, sinusitis, pneumonia, gastroenteritis, urinary tract infections, meningitis, encephalitis, osteomyelitis, septic arthritis, bacteremia, and sepsis. After excluding urinary tract infection and occult bacteremia that are not easily noticeable by appearance, fever is usually due to a viral infection if the spirit, appetite, and activity of kids are good. Under careful care, most children can be cured without any complications. If parents are still worried, you can visit the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Clinic for further evaluation and help.
